Dolly Parton kinda sucks. She has $500 million dollars (according to Wikipedia) and still doesn’t provide a living wage to the workers at her theme park. She also has a thing called Dolly Parton’s Stampede (formerly named Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede) which is basically Medieval Times but with the Civil War (and sometimes the South wins!) I think she parrots lib talking points in order to appear “woke” and keep cultural relevance. The Trillbillies go a little in-depth on her on a few episodes (I don’t remember the names off the top of my head). Her music is fine though, and 9 to 5 is basically a working class anthem.

I can recommend Perdido Street Station by China Mieville.

The real shame is that the blue collar themes are still in the music, but instead of being angry about having to work 60 hours a week to make ends meet, it’s presented as a point of pride.

I’ve looked into this, but paranoia always keeps me from pulling the trigger. Most of the information I got came from the DNM Bible. You should be able to find a copy of the pdf with a search. There are some aspects of it that require a little bit of tech know-how but nothing too crazy. If you don’t know how to do something, you should be able to do a Google search and find out what you need to know.

Fair enough. Hinge assemblies can be replaced too, but it is a little more difficult. Pretty much the only repair I wouldn’t be willing to do myself would be a busted touchscreen/lcd assembly.

I looked around and found this. I’m personally not a fan of HP, but it has some pretty good specs in your price range. I would immediately do a fresh install of Windows to remove all of the bloatware, regardless of the computer you end up going with.

I used to work in a PC repair shop. From my experience, you’ll get ridiculously overcharged if you take it in to repair. Most of the time, these things are pretty easy to fix, even with no experience. What’s the make/model of your laptop? The model # should be on the underside somewhere, maybe underneath the battery.
