Haha. We were stuck on an airplane on the tarmac heating up. 80 degrees, 85, 90. I had an accurate thermometer on me so I was the hero of the hour for having it. Especially Dad loved it, he just got angrier and angrier as we got hotter.
Until I pulled out my hand fans! I had mine, plus two more I had in my backpack. It was still hot, but a good hand fan does a great job in making it tolerable. We were the most comfortable people on that plane. Be prepared!
D&D used to have morale mechanics
Nobody used them. Monsters fought to the last man. Players really enjoyed that part of the game when the monsters were losing and yet fought on. The PCs felt in control of the situation. For many, this was the first time in their lives they felt this way.
This was supposed to happen in oldschool D&D all the time. Obviously, the players preferred to slaughter the enemies and the DM didn’t know Gygax’s poorly explained rules enough to implement it.
