Hi fellow Medical IT person, my original comment was a joke, not to be taken seriously.

A ghost must have written this, no one alive understands this reference and knows how to use a fax machine.

It takes practice, deliberate mindset, and occasionally caffeine or other legal stimulants. Sometimes the books are just poorly written.

First, you need to work on restructuring your mind. Our society pushes new things all the time, you can never have downtime; you must always be on Tiktok, Youtube, Insta, FB, Reddit, Lemmy, whatever.

Starting now, try to be mindful of your time on social media and video platforms. Allow yourself to sit in silence and let your mind race through everything that’s being pushed back by the content you’re consuming. After a while (a month or two) of this “Social Media Mindfulness”, you should start feeling better and able to concentrate on reading. It’s not an immediate fix, but it’s the healthiest one.

I would also recommend How To ADHD for tips and tricks, on how other people deal with their ADHD and study habits.

It’s possible to change anything, the main question is the cost of doing so.

Google has already created something called Fuchsia which is reportedly very fast and potentially more secure than Android. But Google already has nearly 20 years of an existing ecosystem in Android that they would effectively be giving up because app manufacturers would have to make new apps for the new system.

They’ve probably ran the numbers to see how much it would cost to perform the new roll-out vs how much income it would bring, and I would guess that making such a massive change just wouldn’t be worth it.

This is my opinion as a random person on the internet: no. The kernel only affects what hardware it can be ran on. Everything else that would make a difference to end users is basically done in userspace.

The thing holding Android back is its JVM layer between the kernel and the userspace. This adds overhead, meaning your phone needs more RAM or it will have performance issues. You also need slower default animations to cover up the increased loading times from this overhead, which make the system seem slow, especially when compared to iPhones.

I want to start off by saying you’re very wise to see the situation you’re in and actively want to change it. Being AuDHD myself, I definitely understand the challenges you’re facing and relate.

From the sounds of things, I think you’re burned out. Usually people burn out from work, but I would recommend taking 30 minutes where you don’t get on your phone or otherwise distract yourself, to let your mind wander. Maybe force yourself to go on a walk through a nearby park if possible. This will allow your brain to process everything you’re going through and you might be able to find what burned you out and next best steps.

If it is your job that’s burning you out, start looking for another job immediately. It’s okay if it’s a step back: sometimes it’s better to have a lower paying job with less stress to get your bearings and get a better job once you’ve figured life out.

I’m proud of you for striving to improve. I’m sure you’ll do great.

I would say one of the few downsides Kdenlive has is the lack of the premade templates. I feel like there’s gotta be a site out there for those premade templates that us hobbyists can download and use, but hopefully they’ll just bake that in directly in the future.

The other issue I have is the effects plugins aren’t always up-to-date, so not all plugins work with the latest version.

I wish I could find it and share the actual quote, but someone on Twitter (iirc) posted something like, “the best way to approach urbanism and biking to conservatives is to say ‘I’m for traditional neighborhoods that use independent transportation methods without government overreach’ or ‘I want fiscally responsible transportation methods’.”

To no one’s surprise, these refer to walkable cities, using walking or biking, and include buses with the second quote.

Linux is great about providing that feeling of discovery. New tools, new processes, new paradigm… It’s the best way to breathe new life into an old piece of hardware.

If this is your first major step, congratulations! If you’re a regular, great job, keep it up; eventually you’ll be a grey beard with the rest of us.
