I’ve been reading Dracula by Bram Stoker. It actually holds up quite well, though the prose is a bit dated. It’s actually like a found footage story in some ways, since the whole thing is presented through letters, journals, etc. There’s one chapter that’s very similar to the movie Alien where Dracula is on a ship and picking off the crew one by one.
I’ve also just read the first few chapters of Red Cavalry by Isaac Babel. It’s a book about the Russian Civil War. Extremely brutal and unfiltered, kind of like the book version of Come and See. One of the first chapter is how a White officer captures his son and discovers he’s a Red, so he hacks him to death with a sword. His other son then comes for revenge. All this is narrated as a letter from the third son to their mother.
Nomination means nothing. Any government in the world, along with several other parties, can nominate someone for the Peace Prize.
Shut up. Jo Jorgensen is awesome and would be a better president than either of those two. I am, of course, referring to the Danish adventurer who sailed a ship to Iceland and took over the island for a month, declaring it a democratic republic.
So, it looks like the Democrats are going to win the executive and legislative branches. What do you think happens next in terms of all the public anger that we’ve seen during the Trump era? Are these organizations like DSA and Sunrise, along with the nascent left in general, going to keep growing, and provide visible left opposition to the Democrats, or is the whole left-of-center portion of the population going to tune out and go back to brunch while the planet burns? Anger at police seems to be the thing with the greatest likelihood of persisting, especially since Biden has made it clear he won’t make any changes on that front. The difference, of course, is that the liberal media will be covering him unlike Trump.

Prediction: when/if Biden wins, Trump will bitch and deny it for a while, but will ultimately give up and go out with a whimper. QAnon followers will then conclude that since Trump, as they understand him, would never simply surrender to the deep state without doing the Storm, the Trump who leaves the White House cannot be the real Trump, but only a clone. The real Trump will of course be in occultation, waiting for the right moment to return and execute Barack Obama and Nellie Ohr, but he will still communicate with the faithful indirectly through his da’i. There will also be a Zaidi/Khawarij sect who believe that it really was Trump, but that by conceding office he annulled his right to be Trump, and that the mantle of Donald Trump has now passed to another scion of the Ahl al-Bayt, possibly Barron.

Every year, thousands make the pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago, where they throw bad food at an effigy of Graydon Carter and drive a golf cart seven times between different holes.
