100%. They recognize better than anyone else that the TV & Movie industry gives no fucks when it comes to commoditizing everything, squeezing every dollar possible from audiences, and treating cast and crew like shit in the process. If only they applied that knowledge to literally every other industry.

Hedge funds, namely Citron and Melvin, shorted Gamestop’s stock (GME), which means that they bet that the stock price would go down. WSB nerds fought against this by buying GME stock and inflating it’s price. Because the price is going up instead of down, these hedge funds that bet it would go down are losing billions of dollars. Tomorrow when the stock market opens, if GME is valued at $175 or higher Melvin, a firm worth $13.1 billion, will go bankrupt.

I spent the night talking with my lib friend, who is very receptive to new ideas but stubborn in changing her position.

She’s one of those libs that would love for everyone to have guaranteed healthcare, housing, food, and the elimination of poverty but thinks that these are unrealistic ideas because she hasn’t seen “successful” countries do them. She’d rather have the United States be moderately left like Sweden/Finland rather the USSR or Cuba.

She wants evidence and examples of these ideas working out, are there any online resources (websites, graphs, statistics, etc.) that I can show to her?

This is something that I’ve thinking about lately, it’s that there were only a few Soviet horror movies. On this list of over 1000 Russian films there are 6 horror films, but one is post-1991 and one is pre-1917, so really only four USSR horror films.

I’ve only seen Viy and Mister Designer and both are so much different than American horror. I’ve always believed that horror movies are an extension of societal fears, so does a lack of horror films mean a lack of fear in audiences?
