It is circle jerk if I thought he was an idiot as soon as he became public figure?

I’d love for there the be something in Taupo…

One reason is also got to be that the Linux crowd got older, has families etc… Life happens, I have 3 boys, shit is busy. Kids are using iOS, Android and Chromebooks…

The web is just about the OS now, so a good web browser is probably more important than the OS it is running on.

I have been using Linux since 2008 and full time since 2010, I will never go back to Windows, but I probably use Android more than desktop Linux…

Most of the time it is pretty easy to know what the winter is trying to imply.

It gets really silly when using big numbers. e.g. a nanometre is 100,000 times smaller than a human hair.

My pet peeve with mathy stuff, “something is X times closer/smaller etc than something else”

If A is 1 away, saying B is ten times closer means what exactly? Is B 10 away? 9, 0.1?
I think what most examples are trying to say is that A is ten times the distance to B, but the way it is said if just annoying.

There was a young man from Bluff,
Who quite frankly had enough.

Feeling sick through,
With with interchangable red/blue.

With research in hand,
And policy that’s not bland.

This time with great zeal,
This time I’ll vote the colour teal.

Who knows, but maybe we move to different types of farms. Maybe replant some natives, or grow crops.

It will not be pretty, farmers will not do well out of it.

If there was a breakthrough tomorrow, in some lab somewhere. There would be a couple of years at pilot plant stage; kinda micro brewery size, to see if it can scale, then a couple more years at “small” industrial scale to ensure that all of the kinks are worked out. At that point you are at full commercialisation, 2 - 3 years to get a big plant running.

Agreed, but once it is perfected, dairy industry has at most 5 years before basically their entire industry is vapor.

A lot of the tech from wine making will carry over; pumps, filters massive stainless steel vats and a lot of pipe…

If you could buy bio-equivalent milk for 1/4 the cost, would you keep buying the “natural” version?

Lab produced dairy will basically eliminate the dairy farm, once perfected the change will be swift and catastrophic.

2 to 3 years to design and build a plant, one reasonable sized facility will replace 60k cows, that is 20 big farms, 1000 hectares replaced by 4-10 hectares.

Should have cancelled the order and gone elsewhere.

I used Ubuntu for years, but the forcing of snap really killed it for me.

Ubuntu used to be synonymous with stability and compatibility. It was always a little bloated and slower than a bunch of others. But that was the price for stability…

It is probably still stable but compatibility has taken a back seat. This is what really annoyed me enough to switch.

I’m on Mint now, it is really nice. Flatpak is much better than Snap, my only real issue is the MASSIVE size of flatpak downloads.
