For the last fucking time, being appalled by boiling dogs alive is not racist. Wanting to shoot every Chinese person you see because some Chinese person boilded a dog alive is the problem. You’re not going to tell me that I can’t criticize non-whites because I’m white. Not gonna happen. Hand waving horrible shit because, “oh you just don’t understand that culture” is what’s racist. There are moral relatives and moral absolutes. Eating dog is morally relative, and I agree that white omnivores who get incensed at Asians who eat dog are ridiculous, but boiling a dog alive is a moral absolute. You just don’t do it. Either you agree with that statement, and I have no problem with you, or you don’t and I mean everything I said about wishing the worst for you.

I’d settle for a “hurting animals is bad” and “people who boil dogs alive are trash”. I mean what’s the more likely scenario, that someone (me) who routinely shows herself to be one of the most compassionate people who posts here was just a closet racist and a shitty person all along, or that maybe, just maybe, automatically jumping to, “a white westerner criticized someone non-white, this must be a racism” is dumb. The redditor had every right to be outraged and appalled by the videos he saw, where he went from there was also appalling. I would, and am, routinely appalled by how white people treat animals. I routinely call white people, including my own family, subhuman and savage for their treatment of animals.

There are certain moral imperatives that most everyone believes should apply to all humans regardless of culture; nobody but the perpetrators accuse whites of being racist when they speak out against FGM in sub saharan Africa, or the execution of gay men in Saudi Arabia, I extend that moral imperative to the treatment of animals. I’m not going to apologize for that.

I’ve never used a racial slur in my entire life. And yeah, I hate people who boil lobster alive. To the point I’ve been estranged from my entire family for nearly a decade because my brother decided to serve 100 boiled lobsters at his wedding rehearsal dinner. Am I being racist to my very cruel and decadent white family, too? Or is it only racist if I hate that behavior in people who look different than I do? If I’m such a racist and my criticism is only motivated by my racial animus then why do you even care what I think? If you feel bad about doing fucked up shit to animals, stop doing fucked up shit to animals. If you don’t feel bad about it, don’t let some racist yank stop you.

I only used savage because I thought you used it first. And I stand by the use of subhuman. If you know who I am so well, you know I would never dehumanize anyone for mental health issues. I don’t begrudge anyone eating meat, I wish you wouldn’t, but I also accept that my privilege allows me to make the choice to be vegetarian. What I don’t accept, what I will never accept, is that one’s culture, whether it is an oppressed one, or not, is an excuse to do horrific things to animals. That’s absolute nonsense, it’s unacceptable and if it means people here don’t like me, think I’m a racist, think I’m a white savior, then so be it. The trend that I see on here to hand wave some serious ethical concerns because white westerners bad is pretty disappointing.
