also read a cool book by Bertolt Brecht last night called Stories of Mr Keuner. here’s a choice snippet from it

not sure what i’m gonna go through tonight, either probably Agua Viva by Lispector while i drink brandy. it’s been nice throwing myself into books again to keep my head off other shit.

i’ve made some fat effort posts about Georges Bataille and Norman O Brown lately after digging thru their work again but haven’t got a ton of engagement on the discord about it yet so i might cross-post to here later.

hymn of Orpheus to Mars here on this good Mars Day:

Magnanimous, unconquer’d, boistrous Mars,

In darts rejoicing, and in bloody wars

Fierce and untam’d, whose mighty pow’r can make

The strongest walls from their foundations shake:

Mortal destroying king, defil’d with gore,

Pleas’d with war’s dreadful and tumultuous roar:

Thee, human blood, and swords, and spears delight,

And the dire ruin of mad savage fight.

Stay, furious contests, and avenging strife,

Whose works with woe, embitter human life;

To lovely Venus, and to Bacchus yield,

To Ceres give the weapons of the field;

Encourage peace, to gentle works inclin’d,

And give abundance, with benignant mind.

I might make a hawthorn cordial today. I found some big beautiful trees of it locally the other day overflowing with berries and I think I’ll go harvest some. thinking on this recipe: https://learningherbs.com/remedies-recipes/hawthorn-cordial-recipe/
