I know other people have recommended a back brace/lifting belt but imo they don’t really do anything for you in a manual handling job, if you do get one just be wary about how much confidence to put in it.
been reading malcolm x’s autobiography and it’s been fascinating and insightful (if you ignore everything he says about women) then about 300 pages in he goes through the nation of Islam creation myth and it’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard, was struggling to breathe for laughing as I read it. just the tone shift.
like a hundred thousand words of this clearly incredibly perceptive dude detailing a life of unimaginable cruelty and hardship and then a few paragraphs like
“then my sister told me that an ancient evil wakandan scientist with a gigantic head created all the lighter skinned races through artificial selection on a secret island. because he was evil. when the rest of wakanda found out the white savages were driven off to live in caves. they then took over the world for some reason”

yess. watched it expecting something good but a bit daft, like in bruges or the guard, and it kicked my arse.
the pub scene especially, remember thinking that the characters were more fully formed human beings than i am, there’s something about the depth of characterisation you can feel when basically no one is saying what they actually think or mean. and gleeson is there in the middle with his big sad face, i love him

my brother got himself diagnosed last year, and tbh at the time I fully thought he was just trying to scam pills, but the difference it’s made to his life is amazing to see. never been happier to be wrong
I need to dig out a qualification i have so i can get my construction skills card renewed. If i don’t do it I’ll need to retake my qualification which will probably cost a thousand quid and might get me banned from some sites in the meantime. I’ve known about it for three months and the deadline is today. I’m the stupidest person i know.
