Yep, working on my own, trying to save what money I can, and if this one goes then nothing I can afford to replace it with will be much better anyway. I’ve been interested in it for a long time anyway. And if it does need to go then maybe I won’t need to panic about all million and one problems that can show up on another second hand car!

Most I’ve done is charged a battery or wired in a dashcam (6 months after I got it…)

Main problem right now is rust and I need to see if it’s actually saveable with underseal etc.

And yes it would be so useful to do my own brake/oil changes. Plus if you do it yourself you know you’ve done it right.

Even for an oil change though I need to get axle stands, a proper jack, probably a torque wrench if I want to get the wheel nuts on right because I have no feel for the right (and safe) tightness… not too huge but it adds up… I know what I need to get if I do but it can easily add up to £100+ in an instant. I do spend hours looking through stuff and checking things are correct and at the best price I can find. At least I do have a socket set and a breaker bar.

It would be a no brainer if I knew I was going to make use of them… I guess I could bail myself out by selling them on if I don’t use them, right?
