And to quote /u/anachronic: “Simple living is a state of mind, not a zip code.”

Given that it would require an entire rewrite of the app, and Apple is no friend to open source software, I very much doubt it will happen.

It’s known as the “Hedonic Treadmill,” and I have posted about it here. People get a small rush when they acquire something new, and mistakenly believe that larger/better acquisitions will result in better/longer good feelings. Really, it’s the novelty of the thing that makes us feel that way, and novelty inevitably fades. The thing is, many people never realize this and end up chasing that feeling for their entire lives, hence: eternally walking on the Hedonic Treadmill that takes them nowhere.

Some people are less susceptible to this than others. If you don’t have a particularly addictive personality, or if you are not in the fog of consumerism as a positive thing, you will probably not struggle with this as much as someone who has one or both of those traits.

The UAE also has a large propaganda wing dedicated to cleaning up their image on Reddit. While I moderated some eco communities there, I banned dozens of their sockpuppet accounts that were posting greenwashed articles about them. It never ended.

Luckily this user is not one such sockpuppet, but it is important to look out for them.

If you don’t believe in consumer actions at all, you are in the wrong community. This community is specifically dedicated to actions individuals can take.

With puffballs, the definitive way to know what they are for sure is to slice them in half. If they’re white all the way through, it’s a puffball. If there’s anything else inside, it’s probably a young version of something with a stem that you shouldn’t eat.

It was exceptionally old for the time.

The average lifespan of domestic cats has increased in recent decades. It has risen from seven years in the 1980s, to nine years in 1995, to about 15 years in 2021.

If you stick with “Infinity,” I just got a really good icon idea.
