The interview is admittedly terrible, but holy shit the comments are so rage inducing.
This is good, I approve :fidel-salute:
Country music did not start out as a capitalist perversion of anything. It started out as poor people playing folk music just a little bit differently than their peers playing bluegrass and folk. I mean try telling Steve Earl he’s a capitalist nationalist. Modern country music is a perversion of a genre whose roots were poor and hungry. It has now been beaten to an unrecognizable pulp into a disgusting Frankenstein of what it used to be.
Country is a subgenre of folk. And was it’s own style long before capitalisms attempt to sublimate it… What you are saying would be like if I said Trap is capitalisms attempt to sublimate hip-hop into the superstructure… which completely ignores the history of trap. And hip-hop for that matter.

Very well put. I think no matter how they do new episodes, it’s going to be a stain on the series. They were truly characters of a different era. I don’t really want to see where they are at today. I don’t see them doing any political commentary that isn’t cringe. I mean they could attempt to skirt politics and just to sitcom style satire, but I don’t think that would feel true to the series. There was always at least an underlying political line in the show. There’s definitely lots of episodes that weren’t. But it was always an aspect. I’m just not very convinced that this will be good. Even with the original creators behind it. But I am hopeful because it’s like, maybe my favorite show ever.
