This is really good info and very helpful. I was raised Christian but lost interest in it quickly as I got older, so I’ve forgotten some of the things Jesus taught. But I do know most churches these days stray so far away from the core principles of Jesus’ teachings. Ignoring things like how it’s easier to thread a needle with a camel than for a rich person to enter heaven or something to that effect.

He’s about loving thy neighbor. When we were younger it was more of a cultural signifier but he’s a recovered alcoholic and found peace through AA and church/religion. So I’m not really trying to convince him to renounce his religion or anything. I want him to renounce capitalism.

I agree with that. As I said in response to doublepepperoni, when he was younger it was more of a comfort/cultural thing. We didn’t go to church much when I was younger. But he’s a recovered alcoholic and found peace through AA/the church and is more of a literal Christian these days.

Yeah I don’t think he’s aware of liberation theology. I’m not familiar with it either really. Any reading material suggestions? But yeah I don’t think I’d get him to be a far leftist. my goal is more like what you said, just anti capitalist.
