I had a similar thought back when Obama made his statement about the internet being the greatest threat on our democracy. It doesn’t make sense until you replace democracy with money/ privileges

I read a book kinda about this. There was also a section about how an amateur historian found the imperial family’s remains and secretly kept tsar nicholas’s skull under his bed for like a decade, lol.

A while back I read something that speculated Russia’s cultural apathy and learned helplessness came from living under autocratic rule for so long. Tsars considered themselves “the little father” of the masses, thus the masses are their helpless children. That’s bound to have an effect after living under tsardom for so long

I had to watch this for my art history class recently, and it was pretty good! Lots of beautiful imagery and interesting history to encourage trippy thoughts maybe

Looks like the whole channel has a lot of cool topics too

That’s exactly what I came here to say! I’m over halfway done reading Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television, and I’m convinced that this is the primary cause of what ails our elders, and all of us really. One thing the author argues is that television trains us to not react to stimuli, reducing us to forever spectators.

And boomers grew up along with television. It honestly makes me really sad for them
