No shit? I know Rowling pulled a lot from other stories to the point where it was bordering between allusion and plagiarism lol.

Yeah, I remember reading Great Expectations (the first part) and thinking: “Oh, so that’s where Rowling got her entire way of writing from”.

There’s a pretty good satire on the English middle class happening in these opening chapters though. Nothing special, but some of the best writing of the entire series.
