Cuba on Friday delivered a joint statement on behalf of 64 countries at the ongoing 46th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), calling on some forces to stop making unfounded allegations against China out of political motivations.
Western leftists who inexplicably love Cuba and hate China BTFO.
Some are misguided and have never really thought about it.
That said, I did have one charming interaction with an individual who claimed that Fidel was obviously lying when he praised China for being socialist.
and have never really thought about it.
I consider this an NPC trait so yea
I guess it’s sort of understandable if they’re a teenager
When I brought up Fidel’s support for China on this site, a very anti-China user told me that Fidel was obviously lying and they knew because when their parents divorced their dad lied to them and it reminded them of that.
I wanted to go back and find the argument in my comments but it isn’t there? I don’t want to misrepresent what they said, but maybe the thread got nuked. I also checked the other user’s comments to find it but they’ve been banned and I didn’t see it there either
The most annoying “counterargument” I see in response to this is “They only say that to make China support them” at which point I just have to wonder why they don’t just turn into a US collaborator dictatorship if they have no morals or ideology guiding them, its way more invested in supporting things like that.
Same with the idea that Muslims countries are just amoral hellholes that will ignore all manner of cruelty and brutality for a little money from China, why aren’t they just getting friendly with the west then? Its incredibly low levels of political analysis to assume pure money dictates positions and attitudes rather than a combination of ideology and material conditions.
Tiny orthodox marxist projects like Cuba and North Korea are kept alive and protected from total capitalist encirclement by China.
Deng placing chinese labor and finance at the heart of the capitalist machine while maintaining the DOTP and open trade with the remnant orthodox and ‘revisionist’ socialist states is what’s kept communism from being wiped off of the map since the overthrow of the Soviet Union.
