Every once in a while I get that ominous feeling that killing and specially making animals suffer just for me to eat meat, fish and lactose is extremely wrong, but then I kinda forget.
I kinda see myself hunting wild game though so it’s weird.
Yeah that’s the thing for me when it comes to dairy products, that they ultimately rely on factory farming. Raising chickens and eating their eggs I dont have as much a problem with
For me, I wouldn’t eat eggs from chickens i had raised myself because I still see that relationship as exploitative, even if i was giving them the cushiest life I could.
Plus i’ve been vegan for over a decade so its kinda pointless for me to backslide now.
I guess if the big deal is consent you could always leave the area open for the chickens to leave and uh, if they want to stay they’ll stay I guess?
Lot of foxes round where I live, so that wouldn’t really work lol, but I get your point
Personally I think as long as they’re kept happy and healthy, they’re a useful way to convert biomass we wouldn’t really want to eat into something much tastier
Yeah, i can see that point of view.
To me, the ethical issues around non murdery animal products start to get a lot fuzzier when it’s not a commercial operation, it just doesn’t align with my personal beliefs, but it’s not the sort of thing I would judge someone else over.
