I really need to stop browsing WoT subs, I’ve been feeling liquified bits of my brain leaking out through my nose and ears for the past few days, it’s like staring directly into highly-radioactive material and just feeling your body start falling apart on the molecular level.
There really is a very reactionary part of the fandom, that drives me up the walls. Especially non-westerners. I am a part of a fan group in my own country, and the amount of people that are openly racist and will bring up in completely irrelevant topics wokeness or race of characters is absolutely infuriating. Like, motherfucker, you are supposedly a fan of a series, that was radically feminist for its time (and in a lot of ways could be read so even today, despite a few problematic aspects), kink and poly friendly and so on, and you are complaining about feminists and wokeness? Bruh …
Also, they seem to keep missing both that the show is a retelling, and that even in the books, while the dragon is a dude, the Champion of the Light, the person who faces the Dark One could be another person and could be a woman.
