Posting on hexbear.net this is the twelfth kind of liberalism.

Direct message

It was the opposite, one admin gave Beluga a temp ban for DM harassment, a second admin changed it to a perm ban with the reasoning that Beulga was making alts to harass, and then went back and changed the perm ban reasoning to DM harassment. This happened in a relatively short period of time but you are correct that jumping to conclusions is not helpful at all

Yea I know it’s confusing I’m sorry.

Beluga was temp banned for DM harassment, then the ban was changed to permanent when they were suspected of doing the alts but the ban reason was reverted to the previous reason as there is no way to prove who did the wrecker/harass alts.

Could you please edit out that Melina made the alts, it was not them rather an outside wrecking source either the HexbearHates lemmyclubtroll or db0 as he leaked private communications a la the matrix screenshot of me

I am working on creating a matrix space that would be where all site proposals are posted, discussed and voted on. This space could also be where feedback and mod action appeals can be posted. Discussion regarding each proposal, appeal, or feedback would be within a thread under the top-level message.

It is open to join for anyone, the history of the channel can be seen and voted on, however only people that verify their hexbear account can send messages.

This is very much a work in progress and may change in the next couple of week but our priority is to change things to improve transparency/user engagement in the steering of the site

We are going to let things settle and if !main@hexbear.net !chapotraphouse@hexbear.net !gossip@hexbear.net and !counterpropaganda@hexbear.net are insufficient replacements for the posts that used to go into the tanks we will open a space for users to give input on what should be done. there is a post in !commrequest@hexbear.net for potential names

Thank you for commenting, and I truly apologize that you were dismissed, ignored, mocked, shamed, and banned.

Many mistakes were made from the discussion of the change, the communication of the change, and the followup response. I am saddened by the impact it has had on you and others who were unfairly judged as something you were not.

The admin that banned you is no longer one and has deleted all her accounts, and we are in the process of changing our internal structure to have more transparency and ability for all users to participate in the proposals for site change.

I know that it will take much more than these words to get back to any level of trust that may have existed before. Any other thoughts you may have on the matter or ideas on how we may move forward I am more than happy to listen.

we are considering a dedicated matrix room that anyone with a hexbear account can view/send messages where all future site changes are proposed, voted on and discussed. this room would be only used for proposals and the discussion of them.

It is possible however during the period of time in which the modlog was not anonymized multiple moderators were harassed, some were targeted by dedicated wreckers and doxxed. We will not be deanonymizing the modlog for that reason, however we are setting up a formalized structure for appealing mod action and creating an avenue for users to hold the admin/mod team responsible when mistakes like these are made.

Thank you for the words of advice and support. I will not be stepping down, and our next priority is to change the decision-making process to make it more transparent and increase user participation.
