I mean I get that and maybe I’m just paranoid I just worry that the law of the large numbers applies and even a small advantage might make trans women overrepresented in the top of the athletes. I’m not even sure it’s even an issue because as you said being born in “East Africa for a Sprinter” is already a huge advantage that nobody seems to care about, same with Michel Phelps and his huge fucking arms and body not creating lactic acid.

Even if they are…so what. “Oh no, 6% of Elite Athletes are Trans!” The number of open Trans people who go through full transition and the extra hormone treatment sometimes needed to compete and are olympic scale athletes is so, so vanishingly small that even if they were 3 times more likely to win than the average cis person they’d be statistical noise. In fact I’d say there’s as much as an order of magnitude more closeted trans athletes who don’t want to fuck up a good ride.

And the consequences for ordinary people who play sports at amateur or high amateur level, to say nothing of trans children is awful.

I know that such a stat would be misrepresented by the media…but…they already do this shit anyway. They’ll find some other excuse to paint all trans women as mentally ill sex pests invading the spaces of innocent helpless cis women. blerch.

Trans athletes aren’t even close to winning at 3x the rate.

For running sports transwomen have a ~12% advantage after concluding two years of estrogen therapy and after a year of hormone therapy to suppress testosterone.

For situps transmen have a slight advantage over cis men with two years of testosterone therapy.

After three years both advantages almost completely disappear.

Oh, I know. My point is even if we stretch the advantage to utter absurdity, Trans women will never dominate the sports as long as the current policies are in place, simply from maths.

You are probably right, I know that sports will never be truly fair but I just wonder if there is a different solution than a straight man/woman split. Like categories based on things like your CO2 max, testosterone level, and things like that. Something like class A. B. C it would solve the issue and would also allow top woman athletes to compete in the man on even playing field which might be cool.

Haven’t really thought it through but just an idea/

Yeah, it would be. The counterpoint would probably be that in many sports, Cis and Trans women would be unseen in the first 5-6 categories (and in some sports that award lower center of gravity, like Gymnastics, men would be essentially wiped out of the top ranks.)

While this shouldn’t be an issue (Super Heavyweight champion is no longer the only weight people care about in boxing, being say, Bantamweight is equally as impressive and an entirely different kind of fight) for many it will be. And I am sympathetic to the critique that the effect on young women of seeing the top women at position 130 in many sports would not be good.

So it’s the perfect solution from fairness, but the knock-on effects are not great. Maybe after Communism.
