authoritarian left
*yawn*
[The authoritarian left believes] that all opposition to Assad are jihadi terrorists.
Keep supporting those “moderate rebels”, amirite?
:downbear:
these were probably the same “leftists” who were cheering the Libyan rebels and NATO bombing. There were plenty of them, lots of “progressives” and Trots.
The Syrians and Kurds both had their own leftist revolutions going.
But thanks for proving the point the journalist from the area made about people not from there saying shit
There’s no major people’s movement which stands in solidarity with the victims. They are instead slandered, their suffering is mocked or denied, and their voices either absent from discussions or questioned by people far away, who know nothing of Syria, revolution or war, and who arrogantly believe they know what is best. It is this desperate situation which causes many Syrians to welcome the US, UK and France’s action and who now see foreign intervention as their only hope, despite the risks they know it entails. It’s the same as people shitting on Hakim for saying shit against war in general as a dude who lived through it.
I stand in solidarity with the victims by calling for an end to the US onslaught and therefore the war. Not by supporting a phantom revolution that has no chance of taking power and will only lead to ISIS and the CIA controlling the state. The war is worse than Assad.
You can do that without supporting Assad or without trying to justify the language used at the time by people to defend their defense of Assad.
