“US bad”
“Uh no actually everything is more complex than that!”
“Okay, then do a complex analysis.”
“uh… everyone bad?”
If you’re gonna claim the whole thing is oversimplified (and sure, it is), it’s not an excuse to throw away fairly clear cut facts and impose your own oversimplified view that luckily happens to say your country is a-okay.
THIS! real life IS complicated. I absolutely buy that. BUT if you just say it’s complicated and then don’t do a deeper analysis, you’re actually saying “I don’t understand it, and I don’t want to, but I’m going to object to what other people are saying without an understanding of my own.”
It’s like the homelessness thing. Homes outnumber the unhoused. And people say “you can’t just give everyone a place to live! what about _____case?”
And it’s the same sort of thing. “Ok, you’re right. There’s a lot more detail we can get into. So, to start, let’s put the 75% of people it will work for into a home, and then we can discuss support and solutions for the other 25%, including medical care and rehabilitative programs!”
“ugh. never mind.”
I’ve had libs tell me homeless people want to be homeless, that’s why they’re homeless :doomjak:
