There has been a lot of talk in leftist circles about how backfiring sanctions, combined with Russian decoupling from the west is going to create a bilateral economic system in which the dollar is no longer supreme.
What evidence do we have of it actually happening? Can we see the west lose economic power? Are western financial institutions losing credibility because of all this?
All we have as far as I know is a ruble that’s not collapsing as the west had hoped for as well as a beginning self-inflicted recession in western Europe. But besides from this, are there any signs of western imperial power fading because of the economic war?
Realistically speaking we little folks won’t really see the ramifications of the economic snowball tumbling from the top of the mountain until it becomes huge enough to fuck us up - at which point we gotta either prepare for it or hope it whiffs, or hope it’s not big enough to fuck us up too badly.
To be fair ruble has stopped skyrocketing after the Central bank has severely limited the ability of its own population to buy currency so the ruble supply is forcibly kept low. The measures are still in place and afaik currency black market trades at around 100 RUB per USD.
