I love this article it’s so mask off and radicalizing.
They correctly identify the situation: It’s only the West that hates Russia (Anglo nations/EU/Japan). The rest of the world supports Russia or is indifferent, and just wants this sanctions war to end so they can afford to live.
But the conclusion they draw from that is insane: we were too compassionate and anti-colonialist before. We need to rid ourselves of any empathy for the global poor and push to steal more from them than ever before. Doing otherwise and going easy on them is “soft racism”. It’s actually the anti-colonialists who are the real racists. Let them all starve for supporting Putin!
Instead of questioning themselves and doing introspection to why they are on the opposing side as the global poor and colonized, they instead double down. Do we lift the sanctions, allow our Ukrainian proxy to surrender & help alleviate the global food crisis urgently? No. We sanction those ungrateful little nations for being disobedient, we let those Putinists starve & we fight to the last Ukrainian. Their egos are going to get us all killed, they are starting to see how crazy this is but they can’t back down now
Liberals will never come out and say “Only good white Europeans are capable of building civilization and that is why we must rule the world,” but that’s the hole in the middle of everything they’re willing to express out loud.
They’ve always pretty much said this. Throughout history, “liberals” have been some of the most unrepentant imperialists in the name of “saving” people from their inferior superstitions with the light of Enlightenment values.
Depends on the lib in question, I suppose. I’ve known a lot (usually the type to loudly complain about “tankies”) who will talk about how bad it is that there are still colonialist themes in western entertainment and then, in the next breath, proclaim that Western hegemony must be maintained to oppose evil China and Russia.
