ah, yeah that is really only a benefit if theres a big difference in income. All it really does is pools all the money together and treats the two individuals as one entity with the standard deduction doubled and the tax brackets adjusted accordingly. So if say you have one income making $80,000 it would be taxed more like each person making $40,000

Not necessarily a tax credit but if your salaries have a large gap it can help lower your tax burden of the higher earner

ie it could make it so youre in a lower tax bracket
