interested in peoples thoughts on the best term to use with libs etc for describing this more subtle but pernicious racism of :always-the-same-map: thinking about the world where white-majority countries (and a few honorary-white puppets) are the only real countries and everywhere else (apart from a few designated enemy states) is just a sad mass of not-quite-full-humans who just cant get their shit together because they just dont have democracy-understanding brainpans which is why theyre all so poor but its just an unfortunate fact of life, and the idea of the majority of the worlds population having any sort of say in how the global economy is run is just so ludicrous it never crosses your mind
like i know in leftist discourse we mostly call it white supremacism, which is absolutely correct, but also not a great term to use for convincing people outside of leftist circles (cos to most people it means swastikas and klan robes). thoughts on better terms to use with the sort of people who think “racism” is just people saying slurs etc and not a fundamental underpinning of western political economy?
I think “Eurocentrism” comes close, it’d be nice if there was a more precise term though.
yeah i think thats a good one, agree it doesnt quite get the full meaning but is the perfect sort of neutral word that sounds serious and wont get me shut down as a ridiculous hyperbolic ranting extremist quite so quickly when trying to teach people about the racial components of babys first introduction to modern imperialism
