Thomas was made in a Hollywood villain lab (that’s why he’s non-White), but they rejected him as too unbelievable, so he became a Republican instead.
My favorite story of Thomas is his dissent in the 8-1 SCOTUS decision (that’s how different he is, even from other conservative justices) that school officials can’t search inside a 13-year-old girl’s underwear just because another student said they got (prescription strength ibuprofen/naproxen) from her.
I just skimmed it and his justification is basically “public school administrators are cops, and if cops reasonably suspect you have contraband on you, they can just keep searching everything with no limits”. I.e. he attaches the “reasonable” in “unreasonable search and seizure” to the suspicion leading to the search, not the reasonableness of the search itself. Basically Thomas thinks that once the cops/school guidance councilor reasonably suspect you have perscription-strength aspirin, they can vivisect you.
