KSCM says they support the protest, so at least it isn’t, you know, extremely fucked. Though the KSCM isnt the best these days
Yeah, to be honest that is my problem with this protest. There are some elements that are based (anti NATO/anti EU) but at least in my opinion most people are there from SPD, etc. Which do want those things but for completely different reasons.
SPD
:kombucha-disgust: I’ve been to council meetings in my city in Czechia (in America rn) and the SPD people legit just made me recoil in disgust all the time. They say a couple of nice things to press and then in the meetings its just like ‘wow ok how do we make everything worse for everyone’. Cool, cool. Luckily our seats are pretty heavily contested by KSCM though its getting shaky on whether or not that will continue :| I like the KSCM people in the council though theyre even pretty LGBT positive
I am very pessimistic about Europe right now
Why? The situation is so much worse in the US:

Much more heightened contradictions and a more brutalized society ravaged to levels reminiscent of a dickens novel due to neo-liberalism being enacted earlier and more severely than in Europe and with even less of a welfare state to dismantle

empire in decline and still recovering from major military humiliations, the classic historic context for nazism

a completely corrupt, intentionally anti-democratic political system with one party fully taken over by clerico-fascism, the other as inept at fighting fascism as the Weimar-era SPD

an absolutely unparalleled number of three letter agencies that all work as their own private army, on top of two million pigs, the biggest military in the world and the biggest mercenary industry in the world

almost non-existent left wing organization, probably the only place in the world that’s more anti-communist than Poland and Germany combined

it’s where most of the rich ghouls live

just had a coup attempt that only failed because US nazis are even more braindead than euro nazis
To be honest there are basically no left wing parties in Czech. We do have KSCM which is communist party but they are becoming basically irrelevant (about 3.6% in last election and they are projected to get even less in next one). And to be honest they are not the greatest party anyway (although better then the rest). There are few neoliberal center-left parties that are quite popular Czech Pirate Party for example but they are just typical progressive social-democracy type party. And rest is basically right center-right parties.
