I’m a tall transfem NB and I walk fast, so my experience is kinda different and I haven’t really been on the end of worrying that someone is following me, so idk if this is wrong. But generally I just keep my pace and act they’re not there because I feel like it’s weirder to adjust pace in response to someone in front of you. In my mind at least, that signals that I’m not interested in them, and it makes my movement straightforward and easier to predict.

If someone feels uncomfortable for a minute, obviously that sucks and you should try to avoid it, but I also think it’s healthy to accept that sometimes causing some degree of discomfort is uncontrollable. Like, sometimes a person might be afraid of you based on how you look, possibly things you can’t even change (height, gender, scars, etc), and that happens sometimes, and it’s ok. A person can be afraid of you and their fears can be valid, without it reflecting on who you really are or implying that you did something wrong. I feel like if you can accept that (while still trying to avoid it when possible) then you’re probably gonna act normally, where if you need to make sure they know you’re not a creep, you’re gonna overthink it and make it worse.
