I don’t think they’re being deceptive, I think they’re anti-semites saying “jews control the media”.
I don’t think Kanye ever used the phrase “six percent”. I watched quite a few of his recent interviews. Kanye said Jewish people control the media. The 4chan post makes it seem like Kanye only said a small percent of people controlled the media. That is deceptive. That is not what Kanye said. Kanye keeps saying Jewish people control the media.
I agree Kanye has never said “six percent”; I don’t think that person is pretending to directly quote Kanye, but rather is just using their own rhetoric to say “jews, who are 6% of the population, control the media”. It’s 4chan, so I always assume they’re being as anti-semitic as possible.
This was my immediate thought, too. I imagine the 4channer has heard the buzzphrase about 6% of x controlling y percent of z and just put it in Kanye’s mouth because they couldn’t be bothered to look up a quote or thought they’d make a better post by embellishing. And fully meant for everyone reading to catch the drift. But maybe we are all so terminally online here that we don’t even realise its trying to be a dog whistle? Or maybe that ambiguity is a deliberate addition to the 4chan cohort’s jargon.
