Maybe the joke’s too deep for me, but “yoghurts” is in poor taste. This is indistinguishable from a racist post.
The joke might stop being made if westerners stopped mispronouncing it while pretending to care.
Here’s the pronunciation audio. “Ooy-ghur”. (The German and Russian pronunciations seem pretty close to me.) English-speakers say “wee-gur”, which is kinda far from the original, but so is, I dunno, “Japan”, so it’s not a mispronunciation, it’s the official pronunciation being bad.
The joke about people pretending to care when they don’t even know the first thing about Uyghurs is perfectly fair, I just don’t like how it sounds like it’s making fun of the actual name of the people.
