had us drink like half a pint of some herbal remedy every day that tasted like fucking patchouli but we never got sick.

Yeah same with my family, I grew up eating or drinking odd shit like bee Royal jelly, liquefied elk horns mixed with tree mushroom extract and root plant puree, and teas made from lichen that look like white worms, moss that look more like rocks, and what tastes like a pinch of sand. And as someone diagnosed with severe asthma when I was younger my asthma’s practically nonexistent even when I exercise heavily or during pollen season or work in contaminated environments. The only I ever really still experience it is when I’m interacting with animals I’m allergic to and I can work off my wheezing and sneezing with fresh air and breathing exercises.

I straight up have no idea what thing helped me out and I still generally am apprehensive towards the field of Chinese and Korean traditional medicine but I would rather have it as supplemental medical treatment on top of modern medicine over literal snake oil selling American ‘homeopaths’

For minor colds, headaches and the like I’ll try herbal medicine first, if they don’t work I have no problem reaching for the pills. For real problems I’m always going modern medicine, I have found for a couple chronic conditions herbal stuff makes good supplements. I’m also not just taking some old guys word something works, a lot of plants have years of history in both the west and east as well as some scientific research into them so I try to look that info up too.

It’s kind of hard for some of them like the ingredients for the tea I drink in the rare times my allergies flare up.

It’s called Tiantian Baicao and it’s made with Glycyrrhiza glabra L . var . glandulifera, Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat., Hydrangea Tea, Thamnolia Vermicularis (Ach) Asa-hina, Saussurea in volucrate, Arenaria Kansuensis Maxim, Crocus sativus L .

The thamnolia and the arenaria have been particularly hard for me to learn about other than they look wicked
