If you look closely while watching he has noticeable symptoms of PTSD and this isn’t him acting, it’s real
God damn I knew Jimmy Stewart was in the military as a pilot but I just looked it up and Wikipedia says he retired as a Brigadier General and also was involved in Korea and Vietnam (after this movie of course).
