Ok so you have to get over the constant virtue signaling to the American military (EDIT: oh, and as others have pointed out there’s a huge white savior trope also) but:
This is a movie about a fail son archeologist who travels to a far away land and insights a workers rebellion at the local mine against the bourgeoisie “gods” who are overseeing the operation!
Sorry, maybe I’m wrong. I just watched it with kiddo who is in an hour Egyptology phase and I thought it was baller.
iirc the military wanted to nuke all the slaves but McNeil finds a way only to kill the slave owners then instructs the slaves to cover up the stargate so they can’t be colonized by the USA.
for anyone who hasn’t seen it I am working very hard in this post to make it sound less jingoistic than it really is.
