I was playing chess in a club and once a week a disheveled computer science major who had plenty of bit coin would attend (he wasn’t a good student, so it wasn’t intelligence that made him buy bitcoin, but the anti government vibe). Once I helped him with installing some lamps in his flat (a two person job and also that was before I knew he was a double digit? multi millionare). The flat was basically like the picture, except for a computer station with a bad chair.
Personal story about a person living similar
He was the opinion that it was feminists faults for women not interacting with him (instead of his current behavior, presentation and stinginess). For all practices and purposes he could’ve lived the life of his dreams, if he had dared to do so. However he would be instead in front of his computer, post on a popular programming subreddit and argue how holocaust denial online is important to see if freedom of speech exists and also proclaim it as “fun” intellectual curiosity (to show that antifascists are anti-free speech). I suggested him therapeutically or social worker support, once, but he did - which is his right - argued he was the last person who needed something like that.
After some discussion in the club, and also him being sexist, ableist and holocaust denialist at the club he was banned. Which was a logical consequence. He disagreed with that decision a lot, but after he wasn’t let in the weeks after the decision he did not show up again. I do wonder somewhat what he does today, as he was virtually excluded from society by not being able to attend the club anymore. Yet he got more money with 30 than most in their life and would basically life from having fast food delivered (which little or no tips), so he isn’t excluded from capitalist society in any objective sense.
