The point is that any institutional differences between a socialist police force and a capitalist police force are irrelevant, because policing as an institution is inherently exploitative and cruel. It’s an organ by which the state monopolizes violence. If we line up the NKVD and American police and viewed them in a vacuum, would some people think the NKVD is the lesser of two evils? Sure. But both forces are still monstrosities that are unaccountable, immoral, pseudo-militaries that are tasked with inflicting pain to demand compliance.
