It will, just in bits & pieces. Collapse of empire sucks, but it opens up space for different, less shit, societies as it’s hegemonic tide rolls back.

There’s a beach under the pavement, you just gotta find the cracks in the asphalt.

iirc, it was coined by protesters in Paris 1968, who broke cobblestones out of the street to throw them at cops and realized that there was sand underneath these stones. It’s been a popular image in European leftist circles ever since.
