On the other hand, assuming the vote fails, couldn’t establishment Dems point to that as further “evidence” against M4A? I don’t know whether that means it’s futile to try, but we shouldn’t underestimate their ability to twist any outcome to fit their narrative.

Good point. That the Dem establishment will take the wrong lesson from a failed M4A vote is a given; the real question is whether the populace will recognize this betrayal for what it is. I have some hope for the working class, less so for your typical Stockholm-syndrome Dem voter.
