OsmAnd is awesome.
Other things I recommend:
- FairEmail for email. Literally the only good email app.
- Pop OS. My brother uses it and it actually looks great.
- Frost if you need facebook
- “Gallery” from the simple mobile apps collection
- KeePass DX as a password manager
- NewPipe for youtube
- QKSMS
- Shuttle+ for music

yeah, it doesn’t fully replace google maps for me, cause it doesn’t tell me bus information, but it does route between places by foot and by car.
searching is a little janky, yah, here’s my tips: press the icon, go to address mode, tap to specify the city first, enter the city and pick it from the list, then you can enter a street name, and then you can enter a house number. it usually works.
searching for businesses usually works too.
