The movie is a fairly faithful adaptation of the book of the same name by Cormac McCarthy. McCarthy has seemed to be very apolitical throughout his entire life, and his primary interests are in science and environmentalism. Namely, he’s very interested in growing wolf and whale populations.

I’ve read the book and watched the movie, and I do believe it is a faithful adaptation. The book had the same major theme of powerlessness in the face of unceasing cruelty.
