Snagged a hybrid role in commercial lending and my old Das Keyboard I was using at home had some broken switches (including the numpad + which I need frequently). Used some of my cashed out vacation time from leaving my old job to make the upgrade.

  • Keychron Q5 Pro

  • Gateron Milky Yellow Pro Switches

  • KBDiy GMK Shoko Clones (going to upgrade when the time is right but needed something for now) - Been eyeing some Osume Dusks but they’re out of stock.

  • Bell’s Oberon Eclipse beer which oddly ended up matching the caps that came today.

Great. I’m tired of watching useless mini kerboards for gamers. This one looks very cool and mos important, functional

I can’t go TKL. I need the numpad but don’t want a separate one. Working in commercial lending in type a lot of numbers doing financial analysis. I was between the Q5 Pro and the Zoom 98 but that wouldn’t ship until Q1 and I can’t wait that long.

Although i like the numpad, the wasd + mouse position (which i use even in work a lot) hurts my arms because of my small build. So its either separate numpad or none at all

Nothing wrong with a full-size keyboard, but “mini keyboards” didn’t really target “gamers” at all at first. Most of the OG 60% keyboards like the KNC Poker weren’t marketed towards gamers, and most still aren’t (though they certainly work well for gaming use).

Not sure how they are “useless”, you can be as productive or more productive compared to a full-size keyboard if it suits you.

https://a.aliexpress.com/_msFKZTe - Here’s the link if interested. They do have some slight flaws where the right arrow seems slightly off. I can post a close up if wanted. But for under $20. They got here in 10 days too.

That’s such good value. ISO keys and split spacebar keys that I would need too. Thanks.

Yeah. That was my thinking. Since a lot of keycaps are group buys or out of stock, I wanted something that looks good and is serviceable for now until I can figure out the true end game.

Been using my endgame Keychron Q10 Alice keyboard for a while now. Glorious Panda switches and MT3 Dusk keycaps round out what feels like perfection to me lol.

Keychron has been doing incredibly well lately with their QMK based keyboards.

The Zoom98 might be cheaper if you can wait. I debated between this, the Zoom98 and the James Donkey RS2 v2 but decided against the James Donkey because I wanted a metal case. I’m spending more than I would on the keyboard, I wanted a durable build.

I have the K10 Pro. The K series are great keyboards. Right now mine is mostly stock (red switches, and I changed out WASD even though I don’t really do computer gaming because it reminds me of my misspent youth) because every week I decide on a different switch and keycap combination. Last week I wanted black and purple with super loud clickity clacks. The week before I wanted something silent in light grey, dark grey, and red. Today I was thinking about getting vintage looking typewriter caps.

I think those keycaps look fantastic. Enjoy the new job and keyboard! Congrats on both!
