it’s a fuckin newspaper made by the bourgeois for the petit bourgeois. also i all i had to do was type “transgender the economist” and this was the first result https://www.economist.com/leaders/2020/10/15/letting-trans-women-play-in-womens-sports-is-often-unfair

Very cool when the economist is siding with the most poisonous reactionaries in the Texas State Legislature.

Here you go:

Letting trans women play in women’s sports is often unfair

Other countries should learn from a transgender verdict in England

Gender identity is hard but jumping to medical solutions is worse

Putting trans women in female prisons sets up a clash of rights

The Economist Says Tweet About Sterilizing Trans People Was a Mistake

A book on transitioning girls is denounced as transphobic

Transgender identities: a series of invited essays

Trans rights should not come at the cost of women’s fragile gains

Trans identity becomes an issue in Britain’s census – Some worry self-identifying may make the data less reliable

Britain’s Gender Recognition Act won’t change

Basically they seem to have two stances

A) that TRANSGERNDER ISSUE inherently pits two (entirely separate) historically oppressed groups, the transgenders and women, against each other, and this is very sad and complicated and there is no clear solution😔

and B) that they deeply care about trans people and want only what’s best for you but because [twisted terf logic] what’s actually in trans people’s best interest is [horrible terf shit] 😌

one of the UK’s houses of parliament is called the House of Lords. To them, democracy is a little treat that the rabble can have as long as they behave themselves.

Alexander Hamilton and his whole cadre were often pretty explicit about keeping poor people away from power

Washington sent troops to the frontier to stop the Whiskey rebellion

Do they count? Their document nevertheless started with “We the people”

This guy maybe? Renamed a bunch of things with the names of himself and his family members, including the word for bread. Got a gold statue of himself built. Put himself on the money and made his autobiography required reading in schools. He still talked up the need for democracy as far as I know, but didn’t seem very good at masking that it was a weird dictatorship.

No More Permits for Mining Companies: AMLO. They haven’t committed to nationalization, but it sounds to me like the government is planning full or partial nationalization but is waiting on existing contracts with international mining companies to run out before announcing it.

Wow, that’s asking for an invasion. “Our critical lithium supplies are under threat and we will protect them to the point of military conflict.”

They did that in the Middle East with oil and it was called the Carter Doctrine.
