It’s a 110 MWe thermosolar power plant. The mirrors are slightly concave and reflect the sun on the top of the tower, the top of the tower contains molten salt that is circulated to a steam engine to generate power. During the night the salt stays molten and can keep the steam generator running all day.
A pretty ingenious design, it solves the problems with storage and rare earth metals in photovoltaic solar energy.
Wait, if it bypasses the problem of “no sun at night”, what’s stopping this from replacing fossil fuels altogether?
