As someone who grew up in the midwest, I can confidently say that Chicago and Detroit aren’t representative of the “midwest”. Maybe go visit a few mid sized cities like Quad Cities or Peoria, and some smaller sized farm towns of 5-10 thousand or somewhere like that to get a more representative experience. Actually, I kind of hate the term midwest anyways because it is such an expansive region that it can’t possibly be used to lump this group of people together, I like to say I’m from the great plains, I feel its more representative of me specifically.
