My local goth/alt community is riddled with sex pests, rapists, and collaborators thereof. There are some decent people trying to build an alternate power structure, but the big money events are still the old crew

Is a shame. I like some of the aesthetics and have met some comrades in it. Also, one of the events had stripper nuns with flamethrowers who looked like they were having a good time
