You see this shit normalized in Latino communities too, saying that we’re more well-behaved because of it. See: chancla memes, getting el cinto, being afraid of your mom, etc. All it did for me was make me weary of authority figures and resent my dad. And I got spanked the least out of my cousins, who all act out worse than I ever did.
