So chapo.chat actually got the identity of the shooter right and avoided a “we did it reddit chapo.chat” moment. This website is literally superior to reddit in every single way.
“We’re not abhorrent monsters yaaaay!”
You’re absolutely right, but it is a pretty fuckin low bar haha
Tbh I was seriously expecting a “we did it reddit” moment after seeing the thread identifying the shooter. You’re right it’s a very low bar but still, trying to see the little good in a very bad situation somehow.
I think there was someone in the early thread who exactly said “we did it reddit”, but just to mock reddit ofcourse.
We’re not as bad as the website where every member wakes up and decides whether they’ll hate black people, trans people, poor people, or women more that day.
Don’t forget defending apartheid. r/oldschoolcool literally had to remove a post with 30k upvotes about an anti apartheid protest because so many racists came out to defend apartheid.
It was actually the shooters neighbor that ID’ed him, then it spread on twitter and chapo.chat simultaneously
Yeah, i don’t know who it was who did the research on twitter but basically got everything right the first time, they had the insta story, the video where he id’d himself as Kyle and the reaction of the neighbor.
For so long they disparaged us for posting Twitter screenshots. But in fact, we were training for this day.
Credit should definitely go to Garrison Davis who also happens to be like 17 or 18 and is giving me high hopes for the zoomers.
It’s entirely possible this shithead would have gotten away with this if it weren’t for this guy’s sleuthing. ACAB and citizen journalists make better detectives than any cop.
Wasn’t part of the reason that his neighbor had semi-confirmed it after the shooter posted a bunch of threatening shit on social media? The first degree murder charge might actually stick if the prosecution goes for it.
You’re probably right. This is all so fucked.
Though the videos mostly circulating don’t include the first group of shots fired. Something happened before people started chasing him and I think he had already shot at people.
Starting at 8:00 or so you can here shots fired before he is shown running. https://www.facebook.com/cjtv.io/videos/726145031563748/
he shot a dude in the head, that’s why they were chasing him
or was that someone else?
He shot one person and then two more that tried to stop him from leaving, as best I can figure. At least some of the videos don’t start until after the first shooting, which is why you’re seeing some people cry self defense.
This shouldn’t be an issue as he could plead to or be convicted of a lesser included offense.
Yeah in the live video i heard someone say hes going to get beat up and shit. From the videos i watched i think he literally just tripped and then shot the poepole around him that tried to disarm him
Very big brained of him to immediately cross the state line after committing said murder.
Did he think it’s like the movies where they can’t arrest you if you cross the state line? Seriously wtf
The dude’s like 18, isn’t he? I doubt he knows how literally anything works.
It’s like he watched some random movie and decided “if I wear gloves and cross the state line it’s literally impossible to arrest me”. Meanwhile he IDs himself before the shooting, doesn’t cover his face, posts shit on social media saying he’s going to shoot up a protest, etc. Actually glad he’s so ignorant, I hate to think of the damage a “competent” white nationalist terrorist could do.
Doesn’t matter, most people have archived his violent posts already and the police could always ask his ISP for his history anyway
The police will fight tooth-and-nail to protect Kyle.
Future vigilantes will not step up if the police don’t protect them.
In addition to the lives this kid destroyed, his own should be added to the tally of lives ruined by the right. Poor kid, many of us here could have gone the way he did if not for luck and circumstance. Not that it’s any fucking excuse, but goddamnit what a waste
It’s hard to feel bad for him. I and many others here have had shitty politics when we were younger, the difference is we didn’t go around shooting people over it.
Yeah I hate these takes of “oh feel bad for him, he’s just a victim of brain washing”
I had very shitty chud politics growing up and didn’t do anything violent against “the other”. This piece of shit drove a half hour to a protest armed, killed people, and drove home. He didn’t feel bad about it and no one here should feel bad for him.
I had very shitty chud politics growing up and didn’t do anything violent against “the other”.
At the same time, this has “I grew up poor and made it, so I have no sympathy for anyone who didn’t” energy.
i don’t feel sorry for him at all, but it is a pretty damning example of the way the increasingly organized right can turn a willing subject into a violent agent. they’ve got rhetoric that sharpens a dumbass racist 17 year old into an active fascist shooter; that’s a young kid who might have been able to change his mind if we had gotten to him before they did. again, not sorry for him, he made his choice, but they’re really ramping up the effectiveness of their recruiting and we should think about our tactics in response.
Sorry, but fuck this fascist soldier, fuck the fascist police who let him stroll on by after committing murder, and fuck every single fascist chud cheering this tragedy. I feel sorry for the people he murdered, not him. He deserves as good as he gave.
It is a shame. Right wing psychos fear mongering just to make a buck radicalizing kids to the point they feel justified commiting murder in the name of patriotism. They’ll never face accountability for their roles in shit like this either.
It’s hard to watch, as a parent. I think about how so many people were just wee innocent babes at one time and it hurts my heart/soul.
Maybe. I’d like to think that a non-alienating parenting style might help, along with a strong community (at least family). But, this doesn’t fix alienating working conditions, or social alienation outside of work. School seems alienating as shit too. Standby… *moves to Vietnam for the strong community spirit*
hey, but he’s gonna be a hero to all the impotent fuckers on /pol/, they might name the captain Rittenstein on the next 4chan cup, isn’t that what he wanted?
Spoiler alert: probably not and he’s gonna be completely broken on the hearing, espoecially if they sentence him to anything serious.
