There are at least three Jews in the “white” section lol. Like yes Jews occupy a weird place in whiteness/racial relations but fucken Trotsky being jewish in the Russian empire was hardly considered equal to a “white” European Russian lol.
Lenin was of Turkic descent, then there’s, y’know, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Bharat Singh, Kwame Nkrumah, Thomas Sankara, Nelson Mandela (though his commitment to socialism was dubious imo - but I have not investigated enough), the various indigenous socialists like comrades in the MAS (Bolivia), the Zapatistas, etc.
Nowadays, it’s actually likely that white people are in a clear minority when it comes to ML-communists and other socialists even when you exclude, as the Dengists always say, the “millions of people in communist parties in China/whatever”
If you read Mandela’s book he praises socialist leaders and revolutionaries directly and was greatly influenced by them and their writings. Obviously, when he did finally become president of South Africa he did not start transitioning towards socialism haha but it was definitely an important part of his ideological backing during the resistance days
Yeah, I know. His rule as President was basically social democracy, but I wonder if he was being too cautious because of the whole coming to power a few years after 1991 thing
