it’s almost as though the term “continent” is not exclusively defined in terms of geography and a number of other factors play into it too
like sure europe is geographically part of eurasia (hence the existence of that term), but the vast swathes of near-impassable territory between european russia and asian russia make the geographic distinction between “europe” and “asia” a useful one in most contexts
