A few days ago, we had a post asking about things that made people feel better about the world, and my answer was that I was listening to Stevie Wonder. This made me curious, what artists, songs, or albums can you not listen to without feeling at least a little better? I mentioned Stevie Wonder, but Earth, Wind, and Fire are also up there for me.
It’s also very much bummer jams, but my Jeff Rosenstock playlist on random gives me life.
It’s essentially all his music from Arrogant Sons of Bitches (very select here because he was a fucking idiot high school kid writing these songs that he refuses to play these days), to Bomb the Music Industry (which is the happiest sounding bummer jams ever), to his current solo stuff (which he’s getting the recognition he deserves).
It’s absolutely a lot of very sad songs, but the biggest thing I’ve learned from being a fan is that life’s ok even when the bad things happen (BTMIs Stand there until you’re sober is one of my favorite songs ever)
Most recent addition for mine is Close in the Distance from the FF14 OST.
Other fixtures of my playlist that always make me feel good, in no particular order: Lion, Chickenfoot, Crush 40, The Heavy Metal 1981 OST, Macross 82-99, Daft Punk, Gorillaz, and others but I’ll be typing all night if I don’t stop myself
Close in the Distance is probably exactly what Yoshi-P was talking about when he told people to turn mount music off
Flowers by Talking Heads is a cool bloomer song because its all about how the world becomes prettier after the apocalypse. It has such a uplifting tune too.
Gassenhaur by Carl Orff is a bloomer banger. Dope ass song that takes 6 xylophones to play and has a major positive build up. Theme to the movie Badlands, which is a good watch too.
my what?
